This place takes so many different names lol. Jokes aside, we actually liked the food and service here. Starting with the food, it's a fairly authentic Shanghainese menu with some extra Taiwanese items. We ordered the marinated eel, crab meatball, tofu with salted egg yolk, and saltwater duck. All of them tasted authentic and yummy, for which I would return. The price is not crazy expensive (if you live in the Bay Area in 2024 you know what I mean). The service is pretty good. Only minor complaint is it's busy and food doesn't come up very quickly (maybe coz the dishes are cooked to order?). Would highly recommend to anyone looking for some good Shanghainese cuisine.

Amazing food. We got the fried sweet and sour fish with good seasoning. The pork was just alright. I ordered it because I saw a lot of reviews on Yelp. The tofu skin and vege rice are also must try. The best is the XLB. Skin is thin and juicy inside. Hot and fresh when it came out. Lots of seating with plenty of parking outside. Portion is medium. Spent $150 for 4 people. Poor service though. Only one server during weekday dinner. He was literally on the phone the whole time and was sitting at the corner. May come back during weekend to see as it's likely service will be better.

My family came here for a quiet Sunday night dinner and we enjoyed the food and service! Our server was very sweet (in an impatient asian auntie kind of way if that makes sense LOL), chastising the younger servers for not bringing us spoons and making fun of how I packed the leftovers. (Probably easier to understand her good intent if you know Mandarin.) The food is solid, I will say that they have my favorite green onion pancake in South Bay. I have yet to find another restaurant around here that does it as perfectly flaky and crispy how I like it. I didn't even get a picture of it because I was too excited to dig in LOL The XLB and pan fried steamed buns were also very good, super juicy. It wasn't that busy at all when we dined that Sunday night, and we got to admire the nice old-Shanghai decor vibe.

I had a pleasant experience dining here for dinner. Service was quick and friendly. There is parking in the plaza, which can get busy. They provided hot tea immediately upon being seated. The interior is very traditional and vintage, with royal-like curtains and furniture. I tried the Xiao Long Bạo, beef roll and salt and pepper pork cutlet. All three were delicious. The XLB was flavorful and freshly made. The beef roll had a nice crispy exterior and was very savory. The pork cutlet reminded me of popcorn chicken and not oily.

I decided to go out for dinner at night with my partner and this was one of the places open at 9pm. We were craving dumplings and this was one of the places open. The store itself is not too big. It holds maybe 10-15 tables. The first thing I noticed was the service was fast. They asked us for drinks immediately and even swapped out our condiments without us asking. Staff were generally friendly the whole meal. We ordered quite a bit of food. Including: - Beef fried rice: decent, can't really go too wrong with their fried rice - pan fried bun: really good, better than others for sure as the skin was crispy but also not too tough - crab roe xlb: AMAZING super soft, great flavor - stir-fried green bean: pretty good, standard, good flavor - gluten stuffed meatballs? this was AMAZING would definitely get it again, super soft - egg yolk tofu: pretty good, but wouldn't get it again, the skin was too thicc for me because of the yolk We ended up taking leftovers for pretty much another 2 meals, as it was too much. So portion sizes are pretty good. I would definitely go again and I recommend this place to anyone else as well.

This restaurant is located in the Merlion Shopping Center, which also has Marukai Japanese Market, Beard Papa, Yogurtland, etc. but close to Kong's Tofu & BBQ. Decorations were traditionally very old school Chinese-like. Booths and tables were "weathered" and well used. There was a dumpling station out front where you could see them making fresh dumplings. The service was great! Some servers did not understand English that well. A few did, which helped us. Meaty Soupy Dumplings (Xiao-Long-Bao) (4/5): Pretty tasty filling, with a lot of soup inside. They did not bring out a small dish of julienned ginger, and they only had red vinegar on the table. Pan-fried Buns (3.5/5): The bun part was soft, and the bottom was nice and crispy. This one didn't have as much soup as other places. Shanghai Style Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (3.5/5): Crispy deep fried ribs. The sauce was subtle, which was not Braised Pork Belly with fermented Vegetables (4/5): Good dish with tender pork belly. The fermented vegetables were good. It is a smaller dish. But they did a pretty good job. Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup (3.5/5): This dish was medium spicy, well, according to my taste buds. It had the nice szechuan peppercorns, which gave it a spicy and numbing effect. Good chewy noodles were similar if not the same as the ones used in the Scallion-Oil Noodles. I wish there was more beef in the dish. There were only about 5 pieces. Scallion-Oil Mixed Noodles (3.5/5): I didn't grow up with this dish. I liked it but I don't know what it's really supposed to taste like. Simple but delicious. Shanghai Stir Fried Noodles (4/5): Recommended dish by their wait staff. It was good with nice chewy firm noodles. Maybe a tad oily.
